The gambling firm Sportpesa has decided to pull out its sponsorship from the sports industry and other organizations that they were in partner with in sponsorships. This move came after the high court overturned their appeal from the high cost of 25% tax from the gambling profit.
The government passed a law that the gambling business to pay 35% from its profit which brought a hard punch on the Sportpesa gambling business. This will see more businesses and sports industry depreciate in profit slowly. Sporpesa has reported effective immediate withdrawal and cancelation of all its sponsorship yesterday 1/1/2017. Gor Mahia and other football clubs which includes rugby teams will face a blat of a challenge as spornsors pulls out immediately. Gor Mahia may miss the African football tournament.
